What you can do:

  • Get advice or feedback on your personal projects
  • Tackle challenges with help from other makers
  • Explore the tools and equipment in the space
  • Lend a hand with tidying or ongoing upgrades
  • Meet new people and share your ideas

This is a great way to check out the studio and see if it’s the right fit for your creative goals. Bring your projects, your questions, or just your curiosity—we’d love to meet you.

Come by on Tuesday nights to work on your projects, meet other makers, and see what the space has to offer. It’s a relaxed, open time for anyone to drop in and get hands-on with their ideas or just see what others are working on. Free to the public.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Bring a project and make some progress
  • Get familiar with the tools and equipment in the space
  • Share ideas, ask questions, or swap advice
  • Spend time with others who enjoy making things

We keep things informal, so you can come and go as it works for you. Whether you’re looking to work on something specific or just want to see what we’re all about, you’re welcome to join us.

On the first Tuesday of every month, we meet at Ratchet Brewery! It’s a casual meet up to chat about all things making, share projects, and enjoy some time with fellow creatives.

Here’s what we’ll do:

  • Talk about upcoming makerspace developments
  • Share what projects we’re working on
  • Build community and connect with others

Feel free to bring:

  • Projects to show off (or get feedback on)
  • Friends!

Food and drinks available for purchase, so grab a bite and come hang out!

–First Wednesday 3D Printing Workshop
First Wednesday of the Month, 7 PM – 9 PM
Spark Studio Salem: 2701 22nd Ave SE, Salem OR 97302

Join us for the Monthly 3D Printing Workshop, led by Richard M! Whether you’re new to 3D printing or looking to improve your skills, this workshop is the perfect place to get hands-on help, troubleshoot issues, and learn new tips and tricks.

What to expect:

  • A short presentation covering topics like BOSL2 new features, design tips, printer maintenance, or slicer settings
  • Optionally bring your personal 3D printer for troubleshooting or advice
  • Focus on PrusaSlicer/OrcaSlicer and CAD in OpenSCAD (with an emphasis on the BOSL2 Extension)
  • Open to all CAD packages—bring what you’re working with!
  • Assisted access to our on-site 3D printers—no experience required

It’s a great opportunity to learn, share, and connect with others who share your passion for 3D printing!

Fiber Arts for Good
2nd & 4th Saturdays of the Month, 4 PM – 6 PM

Originating in a November 2024 reddit thread on creating hats and scarves for the unhoused, this has become a feature meet-up 2 Saturdays a month, after some of the Saturday Open House events. Friendly attendees do fun and generous fiber arts projects at the big table while having far ranging chats in an active maker environment. Beginners welcome.

Hack Salem
3rd Wednesday of the month, 7 PM – 830 PM

A long-standing career/social group for technologists (many in school / newly graduated, or working from home). Usually includes a short tech or tech-adjacent talk (building the tech career skill of giving presentations) to a supportive audience, and sharing job openings.
